Hotel/Motel, Movie Theater and Local Government Projects
Hotel/motel, movie theater and municipal-owned/funded or county-owned/funded projects are administered by DCM's Plan Review Division and are not administered by other DCM Divisions.
Hotel/Motel and Movie Theater Projects
- Plans and specifications must be submitted to DCM for Plan Review. Schematic, Preliminary, and Final submittals must be in accordance with
Manual of Procedures, Chapter 3.  A completed
B-1: Transmittal form must be included with each submittal
of plans and/or specifications. Design is reviewed for compliance with the State Building Code, except for energy conservation requirements. Project
Comments Letters issued by DCM Plan Reviewers are emailed to the Owner, Lead Design Professional, the State Fire Marshal's Office, and any local government's Building Department.

- Use contract documents as deemed appropriate by the Owner.
Definitions per Alabama Administrative Code 355-12-1.04
- "Hotels: Any public inn or lodging house of 15 or more bedrooms, in which transient guests are lodged for pay."
- "Moving Picture Theaters: Any building in which moving pictures are featured regularly for charge of admission."
Local Government (County and Municipal) Projects
- A complete full set of final sealed (signed and dated as may be applicable) plans and specifications submittal, per Manual of Procedures,
Chapter 3, must be submitted to DCM for review. A completed B-1: Transmittal form must be included with each
submittal of plans and/or specifications. Storm damage: If the AL Division of Risk Management (DRM) is the insurer, include the DRM claim #, if any, on B-1 transmittals. Design is reviewed
for compliance with 2010 ADA Standards only. Project Comments Letters issued by DCM Plan Reviewers are emailed to the Owner and Lead Design Professional.

- Use contract documents as deemed appropriate by the Owner.
- A Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Exemption for a Government Entity Project administered by the Alabama Department of Revenue must be acquired separately
by the Owner, General Contractor and Subcontractors per Act 2013-205 for each municipal-owned/funded or county-owned/funded project. (This Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Exemption requirement
does not apply to privately owned hotels/motels and movie theaters.)
